With the nickname, America’s finest city, San Diego does not disappoint. Being that San Diego is home to Travelmixers, we can tell you, there is a lot to see and do. From its scenic beaches, to the local mountains, the city has it all!! It is a large county made up of many smaller cities, and those cities are made up of many smaller communities.

Documentation
Travel Documents - If you are traveling from outside the United States, you will need a passport. Within the United States you will, of course, either need a passport or real ID for travel by air.
Packing Necessities - San Diego is usually sunny year round so pack plenty of sunscreen. During the summer it is also helpful to pack a personal fan. It can get really hot, and not all places are air conditioned. Check out our website for a variety of fans that are great for travel. San Diego’s rainy seasons are not always predictable so an umbrella is nice to have for both sun and rain.
Getting Around
While it is possible to get around San Diego on public transportation, it can be a bit spotty. There is the bus and the famous San Diego Trolley, but the Trolley doesn't have stops everywhere. Your best bet is to rent a car. Near the Airport is a large rental car hub. You can take a quick taxi or uber to this rental car hub. Even better, if you have friends in San Diego, let them drive you around. And as always there are Uber and Lyft.
Things to do
There is a lot to do in San Diego. During the Summer, the beaches are a must. La Jolla Cove is beautiful and if you like wild life it's a great place to view the seals. Don’t get too close though, they can get aggressive, especially during pupping season, so it’s best to observe from a distance. In the winter, our Mountains offer quaint communities like Julian. While in Julian be sure to get some Apple Pie!!
There are also many amusement parks in San Diego to enjoy. There is SeaWorld, Legoland, and Sesame Place. San Diego is also only about 2 hours from Disneyland. You can also check out the world famous San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Safari Park. For a little culture be sure to check out the Museums at Balboa Park. The Fleet Science Center is great if you have small kids.

Our Favorites
The San Diego Zoo - A must see! Wear your walking shoes, there is a lot to see
Seaport Village - A charming mall located in downtown San Diego. Lots of charming specialty shops, great places to eat and wonderful scenery. Great place for a nice relaxing stroll.

The Model Railroad Museum - If you like Trains, Models, or miniatures, this museum is great. Also really great for kids.
Places to eat - San Diego has many wonderful places to eat. The Gaslamp quarter downtown has a variety of restaurants for every palette. Also, be sure to visit one of the local taco shops for some of the best Mexican food outside of Mexico. (One of our favorites is Taqueria Imperial on Imperial avenue heading toward Lemon Grove.)
San Diego, with its great mixture of cultures and peoples and sites to see is an unforgettable stop in your travel journey.
